Having looked over the wiki, I hope I might be able to contribute a little more in the way of improved-quality images in some cases. This is my current complete set of TMBG artwork. Except for LTW (the history of which has already been discussed

yeah thanks! those are nice! I was looking for a nice Apollo 18 cover to make a desktop background for my computer (because I'm in love with both marine life and Apollo 18- what a convergence of goodness!).
Theres this pretty sweet website if you're looking for good album covers- www.cdart.org - maybe you can contrib to them? because these are awesome. But whatever if you don't, because these are already linked here and rule anyway -------------------- Got a brand new shipment of electrical equipment

Just to round things out with a couple of covers I hadn't scanned until today...

Totally friggin' awesome. Would you please create an account on TMBW, and upload these over our current album images there? That is, if you're alright with it.
Once you're registered, uploading a new version of an image is simple. Just go to the cover's image page by clicking the thumbnail on top of an album page (the one in the blue album info rectangle), then scroll down the image page and click "Upload a new version of this file". On there, scroll down and click Browse, leave the Destination box as-is, and you can write a little summary about the image if you want, which will appear in the image's history. (say "CapitalQ said to do this" or something along those lines in the first summary you do.. just so people don't get freaked out when they see a new user uploading a dozen images on the Recent Changes page Thanks in advance, you rock! -------------------- |

Nonsense! It's just clicking a link, clicking another link, clicking a button, and then clicking another button. -------------------- |

clicking, registering, uploading all the new images, going to all those different pages & replacing all the old images, posting a Q told me to... sounds like work to me.
but you know, i'm the lazy type. -------------------- ![]() |

Compared to actually doing the image editing, updating the wiki should be a breeze. Compared to some artwork I just finished Photoshopping last night, all of the TMBG artwork, except for Long Tall Weekend, for which I have CD inserts in good condition, has been a breeze. Still more work than is sane, but relatively, a breeze. Now this is what I call a challenge... I decided to scan a scuffed-up old LP sleeve to use as iTunes artwork, to have in addition to a scan of the very-different CD artwork for an imported Japanese release of the same album. The artwork is a bit cheesy (and so are parts of the music), but the album is of sentimental value to me, being one of the first albums I ever bought, and a big part of my early introduction to both electronic and classical music. The first big problem was that my scanner only does 8.5"x11" material. So I had to scan the sleeve in four passes, and I had to turn off all automatic color adjustment to reduce color matching problems between each pass. Here's a scaled-down version of where I started, with a very rough overlap of the four separate scans (before manually aligning and brightness/contrast matching the pieces): ![]() Several patient hours of Photoshopping later: ![]() As if stopping there wasn't good enough, however, a dumb idea struck me as I was going to bed, that I felt compelled to do something about it when I got up this morning (good thing I have the day off!): ![]() |
