I guess I'm only about 12 years or so behind on this , but I finally got a SNES today. For a little over the cost of one new game, I scored the system along with 12 games and most of them pretty damn good;
Disney's Aladdin, Donkey Kong Country, Gradius III, Mortal Kombat, Operation Thunderbolt, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Super Scope 6 (No Super Scope though. ), Addams Family, T2: The Arcade Game, and Turtles in Time.
Only problem is I didnt get a power cable, so I have to just look at it all until I can get to Gamestop or EB. Also, a quick question for any Nintendo people, will the video cable from a Gamecube work with the SNES? It only came with an RF adaptor, and thats a bit of a pain to use.

i don't know anything about power cords, sorry.
though. did you get it on ebay? i remember when bee was little all he wanted for his birthday was Street Fighter II. i paid 72 bucks for that game new. it was worth every penny though, cuz he played the crap outta that thing.
fuzzy memories...

Nah, ebay is kind of a pain for getting systems, shipping is WAY too high. I bought it off one of my friends, he wanted money to buy a new game.
biff- 04-29-2005
i'm glad you got it, Fire.
there's just nothing like old school video games.
Cronny- 04-29-2005
Way to go, Firestarter! I love classic gaming. I used to collect old systems from ebay and other random places. But after I got a ton of broken machines I got discouraged and stopped. My favorite old system has to be my Saturn. Bug! and Nights Into Dreams are so nostalgic for me.

my kids love all the old systems too. whenever we'd get em a new one, they'd keep their old ones, unlike how a lot of people get rid of their old one when they get a new one. (did that make sense?) ignatz is especially obsessed. he gets old systems off ebay all the time, & he keeps lists of all his video games, & he shops at the Game Exchange in every town he goes to lookin for more.
that's a lot of the reason he's so hard to move. he always has to take it all with him to college & back every year. i don't even try to talk him out of it anymore, cuz it's like talkin to a brick wall.

I don't think the video cable works with the Super Nintendo, but I've never tried. Good job finally getting a Super Nintendo. I really need to beef up my collection. I don't have that many games because it seems that back in the day we just had the few games that we liked the most and we played those forever.
biff- 04-30-2005
yeah, back then we mostly rented games instead of buying em.
Cronny- 04-30-2005
Yeah I NEVER wanna throw away my old systems. I'm gonna give them to my kids when I have 'em.
Classic gaming never means outdated gaming.
klimdeeni- 04-30-2005
yeah but by then they're going to be all "where do the 3d helmets and gloves plug into?" "how come it's not in 3d?" "how come it's not in surround sound?" DAMN SPOILED KIDS OF THE FUTURE!!!

i think that's a wonderful idea, Cronny. you better save a TV too, cuz no tellin what TVs will be like in 10 or 15 years.
i wish they'd come out with 3D that works for one eyed people. the only 3D thing i can watch is a play.

This is a deadthread, thought i'd my liven it up.
I agree with fire, old systems are great. Of course SNES is probably my favorite old console, and i do still play it frequently. Recently me and my my friends had a Super Mario kart Tournament at a school we stayed at for a marching competition. I came in 2nd out of 9, i'm pretty proud of myself, i'd like to to say, because 1st was a guy who was ungraciously good at launching green turtle shells. Oh well I'll try better next time.
