Flansburgh reports:

"TMBG will be performing Venue Songs with a yet-to-be-announced narrator at the fabulous Stone Pony - part of our psychic warm-up to the HFStival (where we are on the main stage in the early afternoon). We'll be sharing a stage with Billy Idol. Hopefully we'll be able to get his autograph.

Speaking of rock stars, my profile of Beck will be broadcast on Nightline on May 6, so check your local listings.

Rhino is releasing the single disc compilation A User's Guide To They Might Be Giants - kind of a simple reduction of Dial-A-Song - on May 3. It is a very interesting introduction to the band. If you were looking for a single disc to lay on the uninitiated, this might be the one. The liner notes, put together with our pal Barbara Glauber, are quite extensive. We've tried to compile all the songs and all the shows since the band's inception. Obviously this was a bit of a research nightmare (I'm not even sure if the show list includes in-stores!) but it is a very interesting object to look at, especially if you have good near-field vision."

well, your chances are probably a whole lot better than mine, since you live in an actual 'city'. how far did you have to travel for your last show, like 20 minutes? i had to go 5 1/2 hours each way. tmbgtalk/-laugh.gif

Yeesh! Of course it was worth it though tmbgtalk/-naughty2.gif

well sure, but still. tmbgtalk/-lol2.gif galoot had to skip work on his 2nd night back after his 4th of july vacation (from his new job) & we wen't there & back in 24 hours, & then he had to work that same night. tmbgtalk/-omg.gif luckily, the kids did all the driving, cuz galoot could barely hold his eyes open. he slept a lot of the way. the poor guy rode in the back seat the whole way, & there was no time to stop. when we got home he could barely get out of the car. it messed up his knees for weeks. tmbgtalk/-ohwell.gif

it's always worth it though. tmbgtalk/104.gif

our show was on the same day The Spine was released, so that made it even better. i bought my copy from Flansy himself, & he signed it. tmbgtalk/drooling3.gif
