******************************************************** They Might Be Giants' new album The Else Idlewild CD in stores July 10, iTunes exclusive download arrives May 15 13 new songs produced by the Dust Brothers, Pat Dillett and They Might Be Giants! First run of the CD includes a full length bonus disc and original photographs by Marcel Dzama!
From Flansburgh: "It's already been a pretty exciting year for TMBG. Being a clue in the NY Times crossword puzzle, seeing the TED conference, and getting to work with the Dust Brothers alone would have been plenty. The Generation Schools project has gotten approved, so we are proud to report all our fund-raising efforts in December will help create an entirely new school in Brooklyn this year.
We are going to get down to work now, and hit the road to get the good word out about our brand new album "The Else." The iTunes exclusive we are told will drop on May 15. Now, we are a small fish in that very big pond, and we're just reporting the promises that have been made to us right now, but that's what we've been told! The real physical album, which is a deluxe package including some amazing photographs by artist Marcel Dzama, will also include a full length bonus disc that compiles some new rarities as well as some hi-fi versions of some podcast favorites. All in all it's 13 songs that we are very proud of, and we suspect y'all will dig it too.
Happy to report we are going to be back at The Stone Pony, one of our favorite places in the world to play. We want to encourage people to go to that show - we know it's a little before "the season" but we are hoping for a strong turnout. We gotta keep that place open!
Can't wait to see everybody who is coming out to this first of many legs of this year's touring! Peace now - really!" John F. TMBG

what's all this now?
biff- 05-01-2007
i think it might be that special gay/lesbian school they did that cover of The Long Grift for, but i don't know for sure.
klimdeeni- 05-01-2007
where was I when all of this happened that's crazy
biff- 05-01-2007
i'm pretty sure you were right here, klim.
klimdeeni- 05-01-2007
maybe in body, but not in mind i guess
biff- 05-01-2007
it was for that Hedwig tribute album, & the proceeds went to start the school. (if that's the same school that they're talkin about)
klimdeeni- 05-01-2007
ooooooh ok i never knew
biff- 05-01-2007
maybe it was a little bit before your time. most of the discussion about the school happened before the song came out. (like at the ezBoard) i remember cuz Vox had a really strong opinion about it, & he never posted at this board all that much...
all this stuff kinda runs together in my head.
klimdeeni- 05-01-2007
oh ok yeah, because the long grift was on they got lost and i got that before I came here, so it must have been before then
oh yeah, I heard about that, it's good that they got the money raised for it
biff- 05-01-2007
yeah, i'm glad too.

Biff, Generation Schools has NOTHING to do with Wig in a Box whatsoever.
Last year, ticket costs from the Nyack Riverspace Arts and Southpaw shows in New York during November/December helped raise money for the Generation Schools project, which is "a nonprofit organization piloting a new urban public school model in 2007 where skilled teachers teach a handful of students, not a roomful -- without increasing costs." :]
