Ilove Zelda too (mainly the NES incarnations of it though )
I don't have a problem with drinking myself, when other people do it just as long as their careful I just think I'd be a terrible drunk person
the fleas and ticks have been awful this year, and the summer's just beginning! I always dread giving my dog Emery flea baths, he's a nut!

i'm glad i don't have a dog.
ticks scare the crap out of me, cuz i have a really good friend who has lyme disease, & she goes through hell every day of her life. that's why i'm always so paranoid about poisoning the yard i guess.
arachnid_flame- 06-01-2007
oh that's sad
ticks scare me too, the little seed ticks get on you and you don't even notice! (but leeches freak me out more )
biff- 06-02-2007
leeches don't give you a disease though. (but yeah, they're creepy as all get out)
my kids came home last night! Nathan was homesick. awww.
what a treat.
(but my house looks like a tornado hit it)

Don't think it needs its own thread so I'll stick it here:
So yesterday I bought these concert tickets for a reunion concert of one of (if not, THE) my all time favorite bands. The show was announced in April and I have been so excited about it ever since. The tickets went on sale yesterday at 10am and were sold out before 5pm the same day, I was lucky enough to get a pair at 4:30. I was telling my mom about how excited I was about getting the tickets and how incredible the show is gonna be, and she's like "Well thats your brother's family weekend at college and I want you to come. You can sell the tickets on ebay and probably make good money!" and I was like "whaaat? I have been planning to go to this show since April, and there isn't gonna be another one any time soon because its a reunion and the band even said they wouldn't" and then she launches into "Why can't we ever do anything as a family? You're part of this family too, etc etc etc" And this isn't until Sept 15th. Hopefully by then we can work something out (lets go to my bro's college as a family another weekend!) by then, but I won't be mentioning it soon so she doesn't have to flip out on me again.

Its The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, some of their members now play in Bomb The Music Industry
Grill food is delicious!

well, i think if you wanna go you should go. your brother will understand, even if your Mom doesn't.
lajoyce- 06-03-2007
Yeah, my brother is very cool. Unfortunately he doesn't make the rules
yeah, I think I'm gonna suggest to my mom we go out and visit him another weekend, because when they came out for my school's family weekend, we did not a single one of the family weekend activities offered by the school, so any weekend we go there can be a family weekend
biff- 06-04-2007
there you go.
once my kids turned 18, i figured they were grown ups & they could start making their own rules.
man, i hate Mondays so much.
the kids are still here, so i gotta think of something to fix for dinner that they can eat before galoot gets home, but that he can still eat when he gets here.
arachnid_flame- 06-04-2007
gee, I hope things go well for you
most of my family really doesn't GET my love for TMBG (the very mention of ever going out of state for a concert elicits only the heaviest of sighs ) but I've made up my mind that no matter what, I'll go see them! my Dad and Mom understand how important it is to me, but unfortunately thet don't have a car at the moment but I'm hoping things get better
biff- 06-04-2007
i hope so too, flame.
my (extended) family totally understands my obsession. heck, my Mom even likes my tattoo. my brothers all love TMBG... except for maybe Joe. i don't know if my sisters have ever heard them, except for Sue, who loves their theme song for Amazing Vacation Homes (or whatever it is) on HGTV. they all indulge me though, like em or not.
(i'm the spoiled rotten baby girl of the family)
i broke my $5 Fred's magnifying glasses today! oh the humanity!!! galoot has a bunch of pairs, but i hate em all. i only like mine.

Yeah, my mom is kinda overprotective, but she means well
part of the reason I decided to go to college 800+ miles away from home I guess
Bummer about your magnifying glasses
Yeah, my family isn't into my musical obsessions. They're a lot more accomodating (for lack of better word) when my brother gets expensive tickets for Dave Matthews Band (he has more mainstream tastes than I do) at some huge venue than when I go to see my most favorite bands ever which are like $12 tickets at some small club
biff- 06-05-2007
she let you go to college 800 miles away though. it's a thing. i think it woulda killed me if one of mine moved that far away... at least right at first. when we left Noah at school (3 hours away) for the very first time, i cried all the way to Jasper. i finally had to make myself stop, cuz it was either stop crying, or my eyes were gonna start bleeding.
when we left Nate for the 1st time i barely got to cry, cuz it rained like a mofo, & i kept having to stop crying to read the map. (we got really lost. we're no good on the interstate in a monsoon)
i'm sure you'll work something out...
