It occurs to me that over the course of my entire life I've never seen a buffalo or a mutant variation of a buffalo, flying or sea dwelling.
Also, I cut my finger under the nail, right below where the skin is attached to the nail, so it's like the nail's just hanging on by the back end. Except not that deep... sidewalk chalk.

I went to a Whitesox Yankees game in Chicago this Wednesday, my first pro baseball game ever, and it was great!

Some highlights were:

- Stadium food- I love it! oh my goodness I just wanted to eat everything!! I got a bratwurst with sauerkraut! It was amazing. And a delicious corn dog, and a churro.
- the Yankees home runs!
- Yankees won! yay!

some not so good points were:

- how much the stadium food costs. but I guess that kept me from totally overeating like crazy tmbgtalk/-laugh.gif and the beer is so expensive, we were like "well its almost a good thing we're too young to buy beer so we won't go broke!"
- an hour rain delay. but fortunately our seats were under an awning! cool!
- it was 41 degrees!! we froze our butts off, but still had fun

but yeah, overall it was definitely fun and I plan on going to more games. At school I am so close to the sox stadium, and the cubs stadium is on the same train line. an easy trip.

And my best friend from high school came out and stayed the weekend, hes an intense yanks fan, and we had a blast in Chicago.

The National Restaurant Association Show is where future consumer dining trends and kitchen innovations are unveiled. It's the largest single gathering of restaurant, foodservice and lodging professionals the Western Hemisphere and brings an estimated $114 million to Chicago over four days.

My friend from school and I went to this today. We got badges to get in from my dad's friends at a meat distributor, and we ate so many amazing free samples of delicious foods. I'm so full tmbgtalk/-grnbiggrin.gif

We had deep fried pickles and crazy kinds of soda and all sorts of things.

My friend and I went to this last year too, and the keynote speaker was George W Bush, and we kept making jokes about it since National Restaurant Association and National Rifle Association are both abbreviated 'NRA' tmbgtalk/-lol2.gif

Anyone else here been to food/restaurant shows? If you have a chance, go to one! They're always fun.

biff- 05-22-2007

tmbgtalk/icon2.gif I wonder if 89.7 The River ever got my pledge for this year's Phone-A-Thon?

I pledged $25 last spring (the money goes to help the station pay its yearly tower-rental bill); and a couple months ago, since the station manager still had my information on hand, she sent me a form so I could pledge by mail before this year's Phone-A-Thon week started in April (rather than wait until after it started and then pledge over the phone). The form listed different gifts you could get for pledging at different donation levels -- I decided to spring $60 for a River T-shirt, and I checked the "bill me later" option.

Last year, it took about a month after the beginning of Phone-A-Thon week for me to receive a bill, and I got my gift (a CD) a few days after I paid it. But it's been over a month since the end of this year's Phone-A-Thon week, and I still haven't been sent a bill; I'm wondering if the form with my pledge on it got lost in the mail or something. tmbgtalk/0sighguy.gif

(BTW, The River ended up pulling in some $90,000 worth of pledges this year, and their goal was $89,700. tmbgtalk/-th-u.gif )
