Kind of a random TMBG question, but what songs other than Boss of Me (and Mono Puff Dr Kildare) have a pretty strong ska influence in them? I heard someone talking about TMBG's ska songs, and was like, hm does TMBG have some sweet ska I don't know about, or is this person just confusing "ska" with "has horns"?

i think it's that 'has horns' thing.

but those 2 songs you mentioned don't sound very Ska to me so...

Larger Than Life is kinda Reggae.

in other news...

galoot gave me the nicest compliment yesterday. he said "i love the way your mind works". when a man sez that to you, you know you're a good picker.

One pretty defining characteristic of ska is playing just the upstrokes (like for 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & you would only play on the &'s). Almost all of Dr. Kildare and the very beginning of Boss of Me and the prechoruses (ie during the "yes no maybe I don't know, can you repeat the question") are an example of this.

Also, reggae is actually slowed down ska

Oh no the hospital ... is she ok?

yeah, she's needed a double lung and heart transplant since she was 4 so we're use to her hospital issues
she'll be fine
she's in a bit of pain, but she's on meds so she's ok

i'm glad it's friday.

i think it's finally done raining. it rained like every day this week.

it's haircut day! this 2 inch long hair is driving me nuts!
