Throughout my educational career, I always felt I was being prepared for the next step in education. Grade school classes lead up to middle school lead up to high school lead up the college.

I think advanced math is only good when you want to teach maht to others. Other than that, it's just for show, although math brains tend to be more logical (like myself of course).

Chemestry is shit. Biology is shit. Science is shit. All this is shit unless it's your field of choice, and they were never mine so that was time wasted when I could have reached level 14 in Space Invaders.

My grade school music program was shit. All we did was sing dumbass songs and perform in front of our parents, all of which was madatory. It sucked. I just lip synced out of protest in the performances. For all they know I'm singing. No one cared.

The constitution is very important, though. It's good you know your rights, but you need to know ALL your rights. If not, people take advantage of you.

That's the main problem with the public school system. It does teach to be mindless, complacent morons. "Eat what you're told and shut the fuck up!" They need to teach more critical thinking in schools, something I never learned til I got the Internet.

My friend had a great suggestion that would solve a lot of the problems. Have maybe 3 or 4 teachers in every class. The students would get several viewpoints on the subject and would have to critical assess them all to (god forbid) come up with their own opinion. It may also help students get interested in the subject if they had someone to help them better understand it. 1 teacher for 30 students is nothing short of retarded. There's no way 1 teacher can fully reach an entire classroom, and it's foolish to think so. There are those select few that can capture everyone's attention, but those teachers are few and far between.

There's also the problem of the system teaching to the dominant culture, the white middle class, as well as poor schools from mainly minority areas getting less funding and therefore giving out sub-standard education to their students, but that a whole other topic and my fingers are raw as it is.

The lesson here is, don't get me wound up. I'll never stop my tirade.

i doubt that there is a school system in this entire country that would be willing to pay more than one teacher per class. tmbgtalk/0sighguy.gif teachers have to buy a lot of supplies out of their own pockets as it is.

I have the perfect solution for that, too. Eliminate the space program. There's no reason to go to Mars, ever! All the extra money could be put right into the school system, with some money left over.

oh yeah, just like they do now with all that lottery money. tmbgtalk/eyes2.gif

Well that's different. The lottery takes money from stupid people, and that's what capitalism is based on. We involutarily give money to the space program. What was on the moon? Nothing! There's no reason to be up there. That money could be used for something better.

i'm against space exploration too, cal. i think they should leave it to private industry. they'd do a better job of it anyway. tmbgtalk/dunno.gif i hate giving money to NASA when there are little children in this country who don't have enough food to eat.

but i do think it sux how all those lotterys got voted through because the profits were supposed to go to the schools, but after they passed, the schools hardly got any of it. tmbgtalk/-eyes.gif

Yeah, I'm pissed about that, too. You know damn well they could give more to schools than they do, but of course that would take away from their profits. We wouldn't want that, would we?

tmbgtalk/icon2.gif i would. tmbgtalk/-lol2.gif
