Wow. Yesterday I heard about the miners, and how unlikely it was that any would be found alive. Then last night when I went to bed, all over the news was the "la-*test*-('")" - that 12 had been found alive. Yay! This, after all the families had been told that 1 was dead, so it wasn't looking good for the rest.

Then this morning, I hear that there was a "miscommunication" and in fact, 11 out of the 12 are dead. Those poor families.

Back in the day, news used to be disseminated after it had been digested and summarized, evaluated and classified. Nowadays, it seems all the networks want to scoop the other networks, so they just go with whatever "breaking" news they have, whenever they get it, without confirming from sources.

Nowadays, i suppose it should be called "Rumors" rather than "News" or something.

i know! it's the saddest thing ever!

i think they're saying now that someone in the crowd overheard a cell phone conversation or something like that, & ran with it. you are right, the news should tell you it's a rumor at the very least, if they even report it at all.

i feel really bad for the one guy who did survive. imagine the guilt he's gonna have to live with for the rest of his life! (if he even comes out of it. he's in critical condition)


RIP coal miners.

Did you guys watch NBC Nightly News tonight? They were talking about those miners and some woman came on there and said, "We're West Virginians! We might be dumb but we love our families!" Who does she think she is to say that all West Virginians are dumb on national television? She should keep her opinions to herself. Normally West Virginians hope to get rid of those awful stereotypes but that's not going to happen when they interview morons like her. That vulgar bitch pissed me off. I'm a West Virginian and NO ONE calls me dumb.

I'm not a bit surprised they decided to air that on national television because the news always craves an opportunity to make West Virginians come across as stupid, inbred hicks. Even if it happens to be during tragic times like this.

i watch the CBS news, so i missed it. i do know that if something happens when they are doing a live report, there's not much they can do about it, unless they broadcast on a tape delay.

there are dumb people everywhere, not just in West Virginia, take it from someone who lives in Arkansas. i don't care if everybody thinks Arkansas people are dumb though. maybe that will make it to where less people come here. cuz you know, there ain't nothing worse than getting overrun by a bunch of yankees.

so, i heard on the news this morning that they all wrote their families letters before they died.

i mean, it's good, & it would probably be a comfort... but it's just so sad. they knew they were most likely gonna die. i don't think i wanna know, when my time comes.
