"XD" is really confusing at first for some reason, so that's a perfectly valid question. ^^ It's a very over-used emoticon.. a typed kinda smiley. Look at it sideways. The "X" is the eyes, clamped shut due to.. laughing hard, I guess one would assume; the "D" is the open, laughing mouth. It means the same sort of thing as the tmbgtalk/-lol2.gif

emoticon would. Just that I find something funny.
