i have a question.

i used Audacity to take a piece out of an mp3 which shall be nameless. i exported it as an mp3 with Lame. nomatter what i do though, i can't get it to go into my iTunes. i tried the 'add to library' thingy, but it still won't go in there.

is it just because my computer has been acting so weird lately & i need to reformat, or did i do something wrong when i saved it?

i did a good job, & i was really proud of me, till it wouldn't go in there.

it's not likely to be something you'd have to reformat for. It's probably that iTunes doesn't recognize the file as being an MP3 file. Does it have the .mp3 extension?

Also, try opening the file in QuickTime, and see if QT can play it. If QT can't play it, then it most likely didn't work right when encoding it with LAME.

yeah, it has .mp3 at the end, & it plays just fine in QT on my desktop. it sounds great. i cut it in just the right spots.

this computer has been doing some really weird stuff though. i'm just kind of a chicken & the idea of a reformat is giving me the willies, so i've been putting it off.

In case anyone else was wondering ...

The file from Audacity was retaining its original mp3 tags, so biff actually was adding the file to her library, but under a different name.

It's all good.
