ok, horrid posts movie trailers from THIS Apple site, but now they only post the trailers in Quicktime 7. i'm on OS X v 10.2.8, but to get Quicktime 7 i need 10.3.xx or higher. they don't give the OS X upgrades for free though, so i'd have to buy the higher version OS, just to watch a frickin movie trailer.
but if you have windows, yer fine.
what is up with that???
no offense on horrid, but i have a much newer, & supposedly better computer than his, & mine is even a Macintosh, but the trailers at their own site are freezin me out & letting the windows people in.
*kicks whoever needs kickin*

that's really stupid!!!!! I shall join you in your kicking if those responsible *kicks said people*
FirestarterCL- 11-10-2005
Let us go throw broken iPods at Steve Jobs' house!
That really is stupid of Apple though, to pretty much shut out their own customers.
biff- 11-10-2005
i know!
i mean, they're just movie trailers, but still!!!
BigJohn- 11-11-2005
Yes, that's pretty stupid. And I'm also pissed cuz I have Quicktime 6 Pro, which I bought a few years ago, and now I can't carry forward my Pro status to Quicktime 7 without paying another 30 bucks. Stoopid.
And I'm a big Apple supporter! I hate when they do things I can't defend.

me too! it's embarassing.

I'm telling you, biffers, Macs suck. I'm much happier with my Windows.
I could probably host Horrid's trailer myself so you could see it. I wonder if he'd be up for that? (I don't see why not)
biff- 11-12-2005
ehh, it's no biggie. it's just the principle of the thing.
calgoing- 11-12-2005
Yeah, that truely stinks them screwing their loyal customers like that. Sure, Bill Gates is evil, but at least he gives away free updates.
biff- 11-13-2005
they gave em away free on OS 9. i don't know what the deal is with OS X.
i still like Steve better though.

Their whole lame thing for QT7 was that they had new Digital Rights Management that couldn't be enforced on QT6. I thought it was a pretty shitty excuse; I thought my QT Pro purchase was good for life. But what REALLY pissed me off is that there was no upgrade path for QT6 Pro users ot go to QT7 for a reduced price. Not like it's a lot of money, but still.
Now I see the new iMacs have built in camera, are thinner and come with the remote control. Man, I don't know if I could have waited a year, but I sure would like one of those new ones.

I don't think that was what biff was talking about - she was talking about how Horrid posts FYI links to new trailers hosted by Apple... not his own trailers.

yeah, it's just those studio movie trailers. if you uploaded one, it would still be QT7, & i'd still be screwed.
if horrid had a movie of his own for me to see & it wouldn't work, he'd probably burn me a DVD & mail it all the way from NZ. he rocks like that.
& yes, BigJohn... it sux that you paid for QT6 Pro, & they're leaving you twistin in the wind like that. i never pay for anything extra. (except my photobucket) i figure if i gotta pay extra for it, i don't need it. i'm a cheapskate.
and nomatter what you do, something better is gonna come out within the next 6 months. it's infuriating.

I just want to say one thing. Microsoft sucks. Bill Gates sucks. I have an incredible amount of respect for both Apple and Steve Jobs, I just don't like how everything's so different on Macs, it's almost like a dumbed down operating system to me. It's as if I was using Windows in some kind of 'stupidizing mirror.' But, that aside, I don't know what I'd do with Windows if I didn't have Quicktime and iTunes. Those two programs are practically my life now, Quicktime 7 Pro to get videos into iTunes, and iTunes to listen to and watch my 39GB collection of DVDs/CDs, and transfer everything to my iPod (which I also love Apple for).
I don't use Windows because I like Microsoft, I use it because I can't stand using a Mac. Plus, I can't play any of my games on a Mac.
As for Apple not letting QT7 be installed on your Mac OS, that's pretty lame. How much would a small upgrade like that cost? Well, judging by the serial numbers, it looks like a small update.
biff- 11-19-2005
i don't know, but it's probably more than i got.
i love my Mac. i've never had a PC, so i wouldn't even know how to work one. also, i don't want to have to worry about spyware & viruses.
