What to do.
I was thinking about getting that Bose dock thing that you can
stick an ipod in.
But...Red has an MP3 player in his truck and really...
if I just get speakers I can listen to music without an ipod at home.
Then I just want to be able to burn music files onto disc or mp3(I know that's a file so how
would it play music on Red's player in the car?)
So, apple isn't big on burners I guess. I found software through apple (with not so good reviews)
I read about "WireTap Pro" in Mac Addict
and it sounds good:
you can record music streamed from a realplayer or any windows media save it in AIFF format and
add it to your itunes library. Which is cool if your wanting music that is not featured on itunes or whatever.
But do I even need that?
I mean if we just purchase a burner is that all we need?
What is a good burner?
I have no idea about burners at all.
All I know is that I want stereo quality sound good strong enough to host a party in our living room
(a private party for us of course...we aren't big partiers anymore
tmbgtalk/-laugh.gif )
and I want to be able to burn my music files to a disc to take along in my car and to whatever
it is that you burn it too for Red's mp3 player.
I would like to be able to burn DVD's also.

Which way do I go?
ipod, Bose dock, and burner? (Do I need burner softeware also?)

just a burner and some good speakers?

I know there is wire where you can hook up your home stereo speaker to your
Mac through the earphone plug but I think you have to have 500mhz and I only
have 400mhz.
That would probably be the cheapest route if I could find one of those for my Mac
and then just get a burner and whatever else I need to burn CD's from my music files.

I just don't want to pay as I learn ya know...and then find out we bought a bunch of stuff we don't
need or bought stuff we can't use or didn't buy what we needed to make the stuff that we bought
work. tmbgtalk/-eyes.gif

Can ya help meh?

Hmmm ... interesting topic.

Thing the 1st: What kind of MP3 player does Red have in his truck? Is it a CD player that also reads MP3 files, or is it a portable MP3 player, like an iPod, that he just uses in his truck?

Thing the 2nd: Pretty much any burner worth buying comes with software that will help you with burning CDs. One of the best out there for the Mac is Roxio's Toast. However, Mac OS can burn CDs itself - just not with as many options as a 3rd party product like Toast.

Thing the 3rd: What is it you want to do during your party? It sounds like you want to play your MP3s on your home stereo, which might not be very easy. There's other options, though, such as burning music CDs and playing them in your stereo, and even burning an MP3 CD and possibly playing it in the DVD player that you have hooked up to your TV (if you have one that reads MP3s).

As far as what you'll have to buy, it sounds like you only need to buy a burner - which allows you to make your own music CDs as well as your MP3 CDs, and depending on what you want to do at your party, maybe something for that. If Red's MP3 player is portable, you should be able to hook up its line out to the stereo's auxilliary input with the right cable, but I'm not so sure that his MP3 player is portable...

So let's go over them one at a time. Answer me Thing the 1st and we'll go from there.

tmbgtalk/-laugh.gif Sorry, I kind of took a couple of weeks off of everything.

Yes it's a CD Player that reads MP3's also.

Ok...I found the burning option on my comp. I have a burn folder even.

Our "parties" usually consist of Red's uncle/wife, and our tatoo guy and his girlfriend (nothing big), and we're in a townhouse with neighbors on both sides. We have don't really have a home stereo...we have a Tuner/Radio, Playstation, and speakers all hooked up to the T.V. so we listen to CD's on the Playstation.

I want to turn my computer into our home stereo system or else get a small system with a lot of sound, like the Bose system thingy. I don't know. I want good sound, low price and I want to be able to play stuff that I find or purchase online.

Ipod has a Bose deck thing that hooks up to the comp, I think.
I don't know if I want to plunge into the whole ipod thing but...?
I dont' know...what would you do?

i would go to wal mart & buy a little shelf stereo system for like 100 bux. tmbgtalk/-laugh.gif those Bose stereos are hella expensive. tmbgtalk/aD.emo Pack 1.png

Yeah I know, but they rock!
Brandon's aunt has one and it puts out nice smooth surround sound for such a little unit.
I just want to get something that will work with everything we have.
I want a universal thing so that we can use music from my computer, and we can make stuff for Red's MP3 player and we can view video's or listen to music from my computer.

We bought some cheapy speakers for my computer so that I don't have to use headphones anymore to enjoy music but they suck. They distort and sound like crap. They work for just me though.

I read somewhere that they have a usb plug that you can use to hook up your regular home stereo speakers to your comp which would be awesome but i think you have to have a G5 and I have a G4.

I might just go this route. It would fit on the shelf right above my computer.
Then I would just need an Mp3/CD burner. I know I've got some kind of burning ability on my Mac already. I just have to look into it further I guess.
Not enough time in a day I swear!
