I recently purchased the They Might Be Giants album Long Tall Weekend from eMusic. As far as I know, there's never been a physical CD with printed artwork that you can buy to scan if you wanted to.

If you take a look at my CD/Album artwork collection, you'll get an idea what a fanatic I am about having good artwork for my MP3s. The absolute best artwork I could find online for Long Tall Weekend was a mere 200x200 pixels, well short of the 600x600 resolution I prefer.

If you scale that up to 600x600, this is the crappy result you get:

After a few hours of Photoshop work, I turned the above image into this:

It's not perfect by far, but a lot better than where I started. I can still see plenty of stuff I could keep tweaking and refining, but at least for now I'm going to try to quell the perfectionist in me and be satisfied stopping here.

I could settle for this, but I'd like to know if anyone can tell me where I could find a high-res original of this artwork, so I have the real thing instead of synthetic detail and sharpness.

i have absolutely no idea, but welcome to the board. tmbgtalk/dunno.gif

i'm not 100% sure, but i think we have the actual CD that emusic sent out to the first howevermany people bought the emusic release. i'll ask my hubby about it in the morning.

(not that it would do any good, on account of everything i scan looks like crap on the scanner i have now) tmbgtalk/eyes2.gif

it still looks kinda crappy that big, but not as crappy as the 200 x 200 resized. tmbgtalk/-laugh.gif (before you tweaked it, of course) tmbgtalk/-wink.gif

i resized this one with an online image editor...

no problem. tmbgtalk/Twilight_anim.gif

when in doubt, always check the wiki. if anybody has what you're looking for (nomatter what it is) that's most likely where you're gonna fiind it. tmbgtalk/-th-u.gif

i didn't know half that stuff, so it was actually kinda fun for me too. tmbgtalk/-lol2.gif

I decided I liked the alternate artwork better, even though it was only available in a pretty low-res form, so I reworked the hi-res artwork to look like a sharper version of the alternate artwork:

Nice job! Would you mind if I upload that to TMBW over the current 342px version of the CD cover? I'll give you credit in the upload summary. tmbgtalk/Twilight_anim.gif

I'd be quite happy for you to post my version of the cover art in the wiki. Thanks. tmbgtalk/Twilight_anim.gif

My only reservation is that I wouldn't want my version to be mistaken as being "official", since it's not really the original and there are differences from the original.

Uploaded, with a note stating that you created it yourself. I think it's accurate enough to replace the original (the original's still accessible on the image page's history, though). Check it out: http://tmbw.net/wiki/Long_Tall_Weekend

i think there's something wrong with your link. tmbgtalk/dunno.gif
